On May 17 and 18, 2024, General Sir John Kothalawala Defence University and Manusath Derana united to take action against the improper disposal of non-perishable waste at the sacred site of Sri Pada. Simultaneously, pilgrims were implored, through widespread media coverage, to refrain from bringing or leaving non-perishable waste at this revered location.

Sri Pada, also known as Samanala Mountain or Adam’s Peak, is home to the hallowed footprint of Buddha and plays a pivotal role in the spiritual and ecological fabric of Sri Lankan society.

Inappropriate waste disposal at this revered site poses a significant threat to the country’s primary water sources, including the Mahaweli, Kalu, Kelani, and Walawe rivers, which are vital for the nation’s sustainability and the preservation of its ecosystems. Despite this, substantial amounts of non-perishable waste continue to be discarded at the site each season. Urgent measures are imperative to minimize or halt the transportation of non-perishable plastics to this site.

Manusath Derana fervently urges pilgrims to responsibly take back all items they bring with them. Special recognition is extended to CBL Tiara, George Stuart Health, district secretaries, divisional secretaries, all government agencies involved, and all supporters of this crucial cause.

“සිරිපා සත්කාරය”
“මහා රහතුන් වැඩි මංපෙත් කිලිටි නොකරන ඔබට පිංපෙත්” තේමාවෙන් මනුසත් දෙරණ හා ජෙනරාල් ශ්‍රීමත් ජෝන් කොතලාවල ආරක්ෂක විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සිසුන් 1500 දෙනෙක් බැති සිතින් කරුණා කල වන්දනා කරුවන් අවිධිමත්ව බැහැර කල කසල ඉවත් කිරීම මැයි මස 17 හා 18 වන දින වලදී ශ්‍රී පාද ස්ථානයේදී සාර්ථකව සිදුකරන ලදී.
උතුම් වූ ශ්‍රී පාද ස්ථානය පිහිටි සමනල අඩවිය සමස්ත ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ජන සමාජය සමගම අධ්‍යාත්මිකව මෙන්ම ලෞකිකවද අත්හල නොහැකි ලෙස බැඳුනු සමස්ත ලොවටම අතිශය වැදගත් ජෛව විවිධත්වයෙන් අනූන පරිසර පද්ධතියකි.
වන්දනා කරුවන් මෙම පුද බිමට ගෙනයන දෑ එහි බැහැර කිරීමෙන් රටේ ජීවනාලිය වන මහවැලි, කළු, කැළණි හා වලවේ ගංගා පැන නගින ප්‍රධානතම ජල මුලාශ්‍ර දුෂණයවී ජෛව පද්ධතින් විනාශවේ.
ඔබ ගෙන යන සියල්ල නැවත රැගෙන එන ලෙස සියලූම වන්දනා කරුවන්ගෙන් මනුසත් දෙරණ ආයාචනය සිටී.
මෙම වැඩසටහනට සහයෝගය දැක්වු CBL ටියාරා හා ජෝර්ජ් ස්ටුවර්ට් භෙල්ත්, දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් හා ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් වරුන් එම කාර්යාල ඇතුලු අනෙකුත් සියලුම රාජ්‍ය ආයතන සහ සියලුම දෙනාට මනුසත් දෙරණ විශේෂ ස්තුතිය.
