As a result of the country’s current economic situation, the shackles of poverty are spreading like wildfire, robbing children’s educational opportunities. We are all aware that many parents fear losing their children’s school education, which jeopardizes their future because of their inability to provide books to learn. Even feeding their children is a big challenge for many.
Generations before us provided free education. Providing the same for future generations is a shared responsibility. As a nation, we should not neglect this essential duty for the country’s survival and future development.
It is no secret that it is not easy to make sacrifices for others in the current situation. Our experience is that the Sri Lankans do not let poverty darken a child’s future, regardless of the situation. That’s why the Atlas, along with Manusath Derana, is working to brighten children’s futures with the “Light a Future” program. Sarvodaya, Sunshine Holdings, and many other organizations support the program in various ways.
The inauguration of the “Light a Future” program was held at Kaduruwana Sri Medhananda Vidyalaya, Pitabeddara, Matara District.
Though the need is very high, the “Light a Future” program will select small schools with children in need and provide school books to 100,000 children for an entire year. You can also light up a child’s future by donating a book, a pencil, etc., and money to the “Light a Future” program. සිය දරුවනට අකුරු කරන්නට පොතක් මිලදී ගැනීමට හැකියාව නොමැතිකමින් ඔවුන්ගේ පාසල් අධ්‍යාපනය අහිමිවීමේ අවධානමේ අඳුරු සේයාවන්ගෙන් ඔවුන්ගේ අනාගතයම වෙලි යාවි යයි බියෙන් බොහෝ දෙමාපියන් පිරිසක් පසුවන බව අප සැම දන්නා කරුණක්. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වත්මන් උද්මධනකාරී වාතාවරණය නිසා එවන් බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට දරුවන්ගේ කුසට යමක් ලබාදීම වුවද මහත් අභියෝගක්. සැමට අධ්‍යාපනය ලබාදීම අප හැමගේ වගකීමක් මෙන්ම රටක් ජාතියක් ලෙස අප සැමගේ පැවැත්මටත්, අනාගත දියුණුවටත් එය අත්‍යවශ්‍ය කරුණක්. කරුණු එසේ වුවද පවත්නා තත්වය යටතේ අන් අයෙකු වෙනුවෙන් යම් කැපකිරීමත් සිදු කිරීමත් පහසු කරුණක් නොවන බව නොරහසක්. තත්වය කෙසේ වෙතත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික අපට දරුවෙකුගේ අනාගතය අඳුරුවීම ඉවසා දරාගත හැකි කරුණක් නොවන බව මනුසත් දෙරණ අපගේ අත්දැකීමයි.
ඇට්ලස් ආයතනය මනුසත් දෙරණ හා එක්ව “ලයිට් අ ෆියුචර්” අලුත් පොත් සුවඳින් දරුන්ගේ අනාගතය ආලෝකමත් කිරීමට කටයුතු සිදු කරන්නේ එබැවිනි.
මෙම වැඩසටහනට සර්වෝදය ආයතනයත්, සන්ෂයින් හෝල්ඩින්ග්ස් ආයතනයත් තවත් ආයතන රැසකුත් විවිධාකාරයෙන් සිය සහයෝගය ලබාදීම සිදු කරනු ලබනවා. මෙම වැඩසටහනේ සමාරම්භක උත්සවය පසුගියදා මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පිටබැද්දර කදුරුවාන ශ්‍රී මේධානන්ද විද්‍යාලයේදී පවත්වනු ලැබුවා.
